Bottle Tree Park

As part of the project learning about Nature, the children went on an excursion to the Bottle Tree Park to explore more about the different types plants and trees, in particular fruit trees. Despite the hot and humid weather, the children had a fun and enriching experience learning all about the Nature!

Exploring the Bottle Tree Park...

Look! We spotted a coconut tree!
--

Look at those tiny small "hairy" fruits! I wonder that they are...
--

Let's shake and see if the coconuts on the tree will fall!
--

Let's walk... Let's walk... Let's walk together... Till I say... STOP!
--

Look! A fallen coconut tree on the ground!
--

Bringing the children on an educational tour around the Bottle Tree Park and introducing to them the different types of trees, plants, and of course, fruit trees at the park...

Introducing to the children the origin of the Grass Tree...
--

It does look like grass stuck on the tree! No wonder it is called the grass tree...
--

The Spider Lily flower...
--

The Banana Tree
--

The Lime Tree and its fruit...
--

The Pomelo Tree and its fruit...
--

The Chiku Tree and its fruit...
--

The Rose Apple Tree and its fruit...
--

The Crecentia Alata Tree and its fruit...
--

The Rambutan Tree and its fruit...
--

The Pulasan fruit...
--

Coffee seeds: So this is where Teacher Shelyn's must-have daily drink comes from!
--

The humongous Durian Tree!
--

It was indeed a fruitful experience for the children as they explored the Nature in accordance with their project work. The outing to the Bottle Tree Park ended with plenty of knowledge gained... And a group of exhausted, but enriched children too!

Fun-filled April!

Some updates about the Nursery One class:

The children are now into exploring their favourite fruits and the different parts of a tree as part of their project
learning about the nature. They will continue to explore their area of interest in relation to the various areas of learning throughout Term 2.

The class decided to do some baking and have decided to make Raisins Cupcakes! The children all helped out in a way or another and I hoped the Numbered Listparents have enjoyed the delicious Raisins Cupcakes. Here are the list of ingredients used (everything is in double portion):

- 200g self-raising flour
- 150g butter (salted)
- 150g caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Raisins
- Milk (fresh milk used) to mix

Oven temperature: 190 C
Baking time: 20 minutes

Some children helped to weigh the amount of sugar...

Some helped to sift the flour...

The rest helped to place the ready-cake mixture into the cupcake moulds...

And the final product is...

Yummy Raisins Cupcakes!

To celebrate Earth Week, the Nursery One children contributed to Mulberry Learning Academy's Earth Week decoration by helping to paint the "green land" of the Earth. A very nice display done up by all the children of Mulberry!

Let us not just during the Earth Week, but at all times, do our best to save the Earth!

Cheers,
Shelyn

Greetings!

Greetings to all parents! Welcome to the first blog entry of Nursery One (CCK). In this blog, you will explore many wonderful moments of your child in school!

It has been a wonderful one month spent with your child - watching how his or her uniqueness evolves is simply heart-warming... :)

The children have been exploring places around the sports complex and their favourite is level 3 where they could oversee the entire swimming pool - some of them even commented it is very windy there!

Say cheese!

Colin has been our regular pledge-taker this month. Thank you dear Colin for your effort, well done! :)

Cheers,
Teacher Shelyn...
